WHAT IS PSYCHOANALTYIC TREATMENT?

WHY CHOOSE PSYCHOANALYTIC WORK?

The purpose of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy is to help people change and process their lives by not only understanding the conscious reasons for their suffering, but by gaining an in-depth understanding of their unconscious struggles as well. The more you understand the patterns of your behaviour, why your current solutions are failing and what is driving you, the better position you are in to make informed and healthy decisions about your life going forward.

WHY SEE A PSYCHOANALYST?

Psychoanalysts are highly specialised mental health professionals. Psychoanalytic training takes many years to master, with an extensive training analysis, and rigorous theoretical and clinical training. This takes place under a highly regulated local and international body which holds the quality and ethics of our work as the highest priority.

HOW DOES PSYCHOANALYSIS & PSYCHOTHERAPY DIFFER FROM OTHER TREATMENTS?

Psychonalytic treatment looks beyond the symptom and gently uncovers the root causes of your struggle. If you imagine a smart phone with many apps open which are drawing power from the device and slowing it down: One solution may be to buy a bigger more expensive device with more memory, or to carry a power bank around with you. But a better solution is to rather tap into the backend of your device, see what apps are open, and then go through each one to see why it's open, if it's still useful and decide if you should now close or delete it altogether. This frees up space in a new way. In this way, psychoanalytic treatment taps into all the ideas, feelings and thoughts you have running in the back on your mind, each of which may be silently sapping energy and slowing you down. This is unlike any other treatment because it accesses the feelings and ideas you didn't even know you had and empowers you let go of them.

HOW LONG WILL THIS TAKE?

Psychoanalytic treatment requires as much contact time as possible, this will vary depending on your needs. The important thing is that we have the necessary time and space  to get to know each other and flesh out your worries. The process is  extremely gentle, designed to allow things to naturally emerge  so you can choose how and when to come to terms with what we've discovered about you. This takes time, every analytic treatment is different and unique to the patient and analyst working together.
